Mental Health and Faith: The Struggle for Soul, Identity, and Flourishing - ISCAST

Mental Health and Faith: The Struggle for Soul, Identity, and Flourishing

Announcing the 2025 series of the ISCAST–NZCIS Conversations, this year in collaboration with the Centre for Theology and Psychology.

This 10-week series of online presentations and live discussion will address the escalating mental health crisis, marked by stigma, limited access to help, and a projected global healthcare burden. It explores how Christians can respond clinically and theologically, questioning why cures remain elusive despite scientific advancements. The series, hosted by ISCAST, New Zealand Christians in Science, and the Centre for Theology and Psychology at Melbourne School of Theology, examines if modern life exacerbates mental suffering, and considers the unique contributions of Christian faith to well-being, including redefining wellness to incorporate both struggle and joy.
