If we can alter ourselves, should we? And what, if anything, can faith add to that question?
Nick Spencer and Peter Harrison will take up those questions at the COSAC 2026 Public Lecture on Friday 6 November at Werner Brodbeck Hall in the Melbourne CBD. ABC Radio National’s God Forbid host James Carleton will then lead a conversation with both speakers and take questions from the audience.
Nick, senior fellow at the UK think tank Theos, will speak on our genetic future and the principles that should guide it. Peter, former Idreos Professor of Science and Religion at the University of Oxford, will ask whether the success of science makes it the final word on truth.

The lecture runs from 7 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. and is in person only, with supper and a bookstall afterwards. Tickets are $35 general, $25 for ISCAST members and $15 for students. If you’re registered for COSAC 2026 in person, the lecture is already included.
