Saturday 26th Aug 2023 @ 9:30 pm

Where

2A Barloa Rd, Mont Albert

Returning to a pre-COVID tradition in Victoria, ISCAST’s first post-COVID “Fire in the Belly” will take place at John and Jillian Quartel’s home (2A Barloa Rd, Mont Albert). Their phone number is 03 9898 5493.

Alan Gijsbers and Chris Mulherin will each talk briefly on a subject close to their hearts relating to science and faith.

Chris will reflect on the challenges raised by transhumanist visions of enhancing humans so they are better than well and will ultimately live forever.

Alan will then reflect from Mark 9 (the healing of the boy with an unclean spirit) on the proper expectations and role of medicine and the need for faith and prayer.

Format

  • 6:30 p.m. — We will have a “Bring and Share” meal: bring enough food and drink for yourself and a bit more and be prepared to browse through what everyone else has brought (subject to your dietary requirements of course).
  • 8:00 p.m. — We will have the two presentations and discussion.
  • 9:30 p.m. — Finish (although informal discussions may continue for some time after).
