Write

ISCAST aims to engage Australians in constructive conversation between Christian faith and the sciences.

To do this, ISCAST needs more writers, both for book reviews and for engaging articles that deal with science, technology, and Christian faith.

If you’re able to contribute, we’d love to hear from you!

We want to hear from scientists, engineers, theologians, pastors, educators, students, deep-thinkers, or anyone able to explore science and Christianity in writing.

Book reviews

Do you enjoy reading books at the science–faith interface?

Book reviews point readers in the right direction—to great books that can change our lives for the better.

After choosing from our list of available books, reviews are sent for acceptance, editing, and publication, either on our general site (iscast.org) or in our academic journal, Christian Perspectives on Science and Technology (CPOSAT): https://journal.iscast.org/.

For more specific guidance on writing book reviews, see ISCAST Guidelines for book reviewers.

If you’re interested in contributing a book review, please contact our Publications Director, David Hooker (davidhooker@iscast.org), for the list of available books.

Articles

Could you offer an engaging article that deals with science, technology, and Christian faith? If so, we’d love to hear from you!

ISCAST articles will usually be published on our own site and will often appear in other Christian or secular media (for example, The Melbourne Anglican or the ABC).

What to write about

  • Everyday challenges at the intersection of the sciences/technology and Christianity
  • Cultural shifts the sciences and technology are creating
  • Ethical issues created by developments in science and technology
  • Reflections/devotionals about Christianity and the sciences
  • Reviews of films at the science–faith intersection
  • Any other creative ideas you might have

Can I reuse a piece I’ve already published?

Yes. We will gladly consider publishing it, as long as you have the rights to republish it.

If your article has appeared in an external publication like The Melbourne Anglican, they will hold the publishing rights—we cannot generally republish these. However, if you’ve written an article for a personal blog, you would hold the publishing rights.

For more specific details, check out our Style Guide for ISCAST Writers.

Interested?

Great! We encourage potential writers to please send us your idea for an article before you start writing. That helps us understand the best place for it, and we may have some suggestions for what points your article can cover.

Please get in contact with our Publications Director, David Hooker (davidhooker@iscast.org), and tell us:

  • What you’d like to write about, and why
  • A brief summary of your main arguments and what you’ll cover (dot points or a few sentences is fine)
  • Who you’d like to read your article

We look forward to hearing from you.
