When

Thursday 3rd Sep 2026 @ 7:00 pm –
Thursday 3rd Sep 2026 @ 9:00 pm

Where

South Perth Uniting Church

David Austin is a professed atheist who regularly helps out at Willetton Uniting Church. He is well versed in science, technology, religion, and apologetics.

Join ISCAST Perth as Fellow Dr Kevin Koay interviews David, asking questions including whether the rejection of mainstream science hurts Christianity, and whether good moral values are determined scientifically or are religious and cultural. The aim is not to convince David of Christian beliefs, or even to debate, but to listen and try to understand why some people have different worldviews.

Speaker

David Austin was born in England, attended school in the UK, and obtained a Bachelor of Technology (Hons) in Electrical Engineering and Electronics from Brunel University. He worked in several companies in the UK as an electronics engineer before migrating to Australia in 1979, initially in Sydney and then Perth. In Perth, David was employed as a senior design engineer at Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital in its biophysics department, working on a number of projects mostly involving medical electronics incorporating microprocessors. He is now retired but keeps an interest in science and technology plus religion and apologetics, including as proof-reader and contributor for two books by Michael J. Alter entitled The Resurrection and Its Apologetics and The Hypothesis of Undesigned Coincidences. Despite his professed atheism, he regularly helps out at Willetton Uniting Church.
