Thursday 4th Dec 2025 @ 9:00 pm
Mount Pleasant Baptist Church, WA (Function Room)

At this ISCAST Perth event, Koshy Thayyil will lead us on a look at Job chapter 28 (about creation, mining, and wisdom), together with reflections on his personal “desert experiences” living and working in the petroleum business in Saudi Arabia. As these experiences strengthened his faith, we’ll also look at other science pioneers of faith, (including oil innovator J.D. Rockefeller) and will consider what motivated them.
About the Speaker
Koshy T. Thayyil has a BSc and a postgrad diploma in Geophysics. The vagaries of the oil exploration industry have made him a “Wandering Geophysicist,” affording opportunities to stay in different countries and familiarise with their cultures. He began as a trainee Geo with Digicon Geophysical Corp in 1981 and retired as a Geophysical Consultant from Aramco in 2018. This has also been a faith journey, with a shift towards a prophetical and biblical world view. He is settled with family in Perth, and keenly follows geopolitical developments and the influence of energy policies in local and international spheres. He worships at Mt Pleasant Baptist Church.
