Darwinism as Religion

Philosopher Michael Ruse’s book claims that Darwinian thinking shaped literature and culture in ways that resemble religious belief.

Despite the title, Ruse doesn’t claim evolution is a religion, but shows how it’s taken on a similar role in how we understand the world.

There are two different reviews of this book:

Reviewer and ISCAST Fellow Robert Brennan finds much to appreciate in Ruse’s insights, but also raises concerns about the book’s historical accuracy, logical clarity, and literary choices. Read the review here.

Reviewer Samuel McKee says this book offers a thought-provoking look at how evolutionary thinking has shaped culture, literature, and modern ideas. Read the review here.
