PROFILE

Stephen is an honorary professor in physics (Honorary Fellow) at Victoria University. His research has been in areas of optics, including optical fibre sensors and rare-earth-doped optical fibre lasers and amplifiers. Stephen has approximately 250 journal and conference publications or presentations.

Prior to his Honorary Fellow appointment, he held several leadership positions over the years including Head of the Department of Applied Physics, Director of the Centre for Telecommunications and Microelectronics, Director of Research Training and Leader of the Telecommunications, Electronics, Photonics and Sensors (TEPS) Research Unit.
