Planet earth is the beautiful home that God provided for us to live in and care for, yet it can bring suffering—think earthquakes and volcano disasters. How old is it? Did Noah’s flood cause the rocks we see today? What do dinosaurs and other fossils tell us? The new science of geology was the enemy of Church and Bible in the 19th century—or was it? We’ll discuss all these issues, with a plethora of visual imagery.

About the speaker
Peter Thomas is a recently retired geologist/geophysicist (which all began with a love of dinosaurs). He studied at Cambridge and Durham in the UK, then embarked on a career in oil and gas which took him around the globe, until he later settled in Perth. He is married with 3 adult kids and attends Mount Pleasant Baptist Church. He cycles, climbs, volunteers, and coordinates the Perth chapter of ISCAST.
Getting there
Forrest Hall is on the corner of Mounts Bay Rd and Hackett Drive, on the river side. Go ahead 10 metres inside from entrance doorway, the room will be on your left. Free parking after 5pm in UWA and also along Hackett Drive. Tea and coffee will be available.
