The Sisters; or, Galileo’s Penance: History and Science Through the Eyes of Two Forgotten Women

The Sisters; or, Galileo’s Penance: History and Science Through the Eyes of Two Forgotten Women
May 27 to June 1 in Melbourne

This play is written and directed by Sharmini Kumar, a friend of ISCAST.

Sharmini says, “My sister-in-law (whose background is in the history and philosophy of science) is fascinated with the topic of Galileo and how he came to represent the supposed ‘science vs faith’ conflict – the popular narrative of which doesn’t really fit in with the facts. Galileo had two illegitimate daughters who were nuns, so I’ve imagined their conversations. It’s not a didactic piece, but there is some real history behind it. It’s likewise not evangelistic but does look at faith in this context.”
